Course Overview
The goal of Javascript Programming is for students to learn the basics of Javascript by programming shapes, images, and text in the HTML5 canvas. The following are the major topics:
- The basics of drawing shapes, images, and text on the canvas including using colors to fill and outline any shapes.
- Using variables and constants.
- Using functions in Javascript to include parameters and constructors.
- Creating conditional statements.
- Creating loops.
In addition, students are expected to show their ability to think critically and logically by completing number puzzles.
Grading Policies
The details of how grades are calculated are contained in the course syllabus:
Late Work
Late work will be accepted, but a reason must be provided for why it is late. Failure to provide a reason will result in zero Work Habits points and a possible reduction in the grade itself.
Cheating
If a student is caught plagiarizing from the Internet or turning in work from other students, the student will receive a zero on the assignment and will not be allowed to make it up. In addition, if a student copies another student's work, both students will receive a zero and will not be allowed to make it up.
Class Dismissal
Ms. Blomeyer dismisses the class, not the bell. The floor and computer tables must be clean of trash and all students must be in their seats and quiet before class is dismissed. No tardy passes are given if a class is dismissed late.
Classroom Expectations
- Be on time and in your seat when the bell rings.
- Be ready to learn.
- Be polite. Listen when the teacher is talking.
- Be willing to help. You will learn more if you help your fellow students.
- Keep the room clean. No food or drinks are allowed in the classroom.
- Put trash in the trash cans, not on the floor and not between the computers.
- Respect the property in the room and the property of your fellow students.
